BDI – BioEnergy International AG is one of the world’s leading suppliers of complete BioEnergy production plants. Vision & mission of the company

As a leading international technology supplier for the production of Multi-Feedstock plants which can manufacture biodiesel based on different raw materials, such as vegetable oils, used cooking oils, animal fats and trap grease, BDI has realised more than 30 projects in the field of biodiesel all over the world. Based on its experience in biodiesel production technologies, BDI also retrofits existing biodiesel plants to state of the art technology. The BDI RetroFit program was developed especially for existing large-scale facilities to increase its flexibility in terms of raw materials as well as improving the quality of the biodiesel.

BDI provides in-depth experience with the production of biodiesel from various and difficult raw materials, and owns an extensive patent portfolio that has resulted from its in-house research and development activities.

BDI – BioEnergy International AG is market and technology leader in the construction of customized BioDiesel plants using the Multi-Feedstock Technology the company has developed itself, which can manufacture BioDiesel from different raw materials, such as Vegetable Oils, Used Cooking Oils and Animal Fats. In the “From Waste to Value” field BDI supplies efficient plant concepts that are designed to produce BioGas from industrial and municipal waste. Together with its subsidiary UIC GmbH, BDI is also active in the field of vacuum distillation. UIC GmbH supplies equipment and components for the gentle distillation of liquid mixtures in both rough and fine vacuum. In the Life Science segment, BDI creates with its fully-owned subsidiary BDI – BioLife Science GmbH new standards in the production of valuable algae-based products. This innovation enables the development of processes and equipment of the production and use of algae biomass.

BDI has specialised in the development of technologies that make optimum use of resources in the industrial processing of by- and waste products ever since it was established in 1996 and owns an extensive patent portfolio that has resulted from its in-house research and development activities. Our range of services includes public authority, basic and detailed engineering, installation and start-up as well as After-Sales support.

  • Martin Ernst
  • Head of Research and Development Bio Fuels. Martin has a PhD in Chemical Process Engineering and has been with BDI for 11 years. He stared to work in the engineering and commissioning department for biodiesel but in 2008 he changed to the R&D department and is now Head of the R&D working group Biofuels. Martin is member of the European Biofuels Technology Platform and was the BDI representative for the European Sustainable Biofuel Forum. Furthermore he is member of Austrian Standards working group AG 24.02 Petroleum products and synthetic and plant substitutes derived thereof, Fatty acid methyl ester.

  • Robert Raudner
  • Technical Expert Research and Development BioFuels. For over 10 years. Robert has focused on the analytics of biodiesel and biodiesel feedstock. He is a member of the Austrian standardization of biodiesel and technical leader of task group 1 of CEN working group CEN/BT/WG 218. At BDI he is the project manager of the EU FP7 Project All-Gas as well as the head of the laboratory and the pilot plant.
